Re: New ASCOM driver for Ecowitt weather stations
Hi Ivo and Maria, Everything works :-BD Except two conditions. :-? ObservingConditions works flawlessly under these conditions. When ObservingConditions is connected to: Ecowitt driver directly (the "Waiting for weather station..." text disappearing has been fixed. :-BD ). Pegasus Uranus d...
Re: APT 4.81+
Hi Larry,
Glad you've got it all working.
As always, with computers, patience, persistence and time are your friends and you've clearly used all three.
It looks like from Maria's post that Ivo and Maria have also identified an internal MF problem, which will be fixed.
Cheers, Jim

Re: APT 4.81+
Hi Larry, The settings look OK, though, yes, try using PS3 for both Near and Blind solving. Really, You shouldn't ever need to do blind solve after a slew. Modern mounts should always slew accurately enough for their "after slew" position to be reasonably accurate. Certainly enough to be a...
Re: APT 4.81+
Hi Larry,
When you find a exposure/gain artying that gives you rel8able solving, don't forget to set them in "PointCraft > Settings" too
Cheers, Jim
PS. You would probably find that the same settings work in Auto Focus Aid, when using HFD or FWMH focusing.

Re: APT 4.81+
Hi Larry, I am not sure quite why you have so many commands in your plan. Some of them seem unnecessary to me. But I don't know your specific objectives. Anyway, your updated plan for the solvesync exposure is to a bit strange. You have put an extra line in that takes a 10s exposure, but it has an i...
Re: APT 4.81+
Hi Larry, I have just noticed a possible problem with your light plan. The plan has not taken an exposure when you execute the "#SolveSync Near" command, so what is the image it is solving and is the scope roughly pointing at a point near to that image's position? Usually the #SolveSync Ne...
Re: APT 4.81+
HI Larry, Sorry this only a quick reply, so I haven't had time to look at your logfile or anything to see if I can spot a problem. However, with reference to your question: I was thinking about using PS3 to do that. Do you have any thoughts? ASTAP is usually recommended because it is fast and consta...

Re: New ASCOM driver for Ecowitt weather stations
Hi Ivo and Maria, Just found something interesting (or not ;-) )... I am not sure if this is an ObservationConditions Hub problem, an APT problem or an Ecowitt driver problem. If I connect to the new Ecowitt driver, I get all the attributes I expect. If I connect to my Pegasus Uranus, I get all the ...

Re: New ASCOM driver for Ecowitt weather stations
Hi Ivo and Maria, As promised yesterday, I have done some testing today. :-) As far as I can tell everything seems to be working! :-BD However, I do have two small issues, so we are 99.9% of the way there. ^:)^ :-BD Before describing the issues in case it helps track down Chris' indoor temperature c...

Re: New ASCOM driver for Ecowitt weather stations
Hi Chris, I'm not sure quite at what stage of doing things you are at, when you get the lock up. I was wondering if it's another presentation of the problem I see. See my posts above https://aptforum.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=49575#p49575 Also the follow on post which is about using the ASCOM Observ...

Re: New ASCOM driver for Ecowitt weather stations
Just a quick update... I have just tried connecting through the ASCOM Observing Conditions Hub (and configuring it to only use the Wind conditions from Ecowitt Driver). It showed the same delay as connecting directly. Does this suggest it is an Ecowitt driver delay, rather than the APT call to the d...

Re: New ASCOM driver for Ecowitt weather stations
Hi Ivo, I've tested v1.2 and it appears to be working, at least it does for the HP2564 configuratiom . :-BD But there is a potential problem, I think. :-? When using a manual connect, both when setting up the initial connection and subsequently, the "Observing Conditions" window hangs unti...

Re: No Images Appear
HI Michael, It is a Windows Power setting that you need to change. The APT setting for USB power is only to turn on/off the warning message that APT shows if it detects that the Windows USB Power setting is not set appropriately. The APT manual provides a link to a YouTube video and a link to writte...

Re: New ASCOM driver for Ecowitt weather stations
Now that sounds interesting. I must take a look. There is and Observing Conditions Hub that is made to combine data from different devices and make one connection the applications like APT

Re: New ASCOM driver for Ecowitt weather stations
Hi Ivo, Do you see the data in Gear -> Obs Conditions? Yes.... and no. Or maybe I could say "sometimes" ;-) I was trying the "Test connection" button, but it just showed the "Waiting for...", so I hadn't looked at the Obs Conditions window. Anyway, I ignored that and cl...

Re: New ASCOM driver for Ecowitt weather stations
Hi Chris,
I would recommend holding off buying a weather station until Ivo amd Maria get the HP 2564 option working.
I would strongly recommend the HP 2564 (llink in previous post) as it is a great device and gives you an excellent weather info screen as well as an integrated hub.
Cheers, Jim

Re: New ASCOM driver for Ecowitt weather stations
Hi Ivo and Maria, I have downloaded the new Ecowitt v1.1 setup file and installed it, so you can now remove the link as far as I am concerned. :-BD I have started setting up the ASCOM properties: Screenshot 2026-09-22 221854.png The "Gateway Address" is the address of my HP 2564. I have us...

Re: New ASCOM driver for Ecowitt weather stations
Just another thought... The Ecowitt hubs and displays upload their data to various weather services. For example Ecowitts own service and Wunderground. I use both. My Wunderground data is here; https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/ISTOCK886 I mention this because the ASCOM driver may talk to o...

Re: New ASCOM driver for Ecowitt weather stations
Hi Chris, The sensor and hub use their own network, so it will be the hub that the ASCOM driver talks to. You have to supply the driver with the IP address of the hub. Just for info... I have the Ecowitt HP2560 ( https://www.weatherspares.co.uk/products/ecowitt-wittboy-pro-sonic-anemometer-with-hapt...

Re: Crop factor and focal length
Just an additional thought... People often forget (me included) that you don't need to wait until nighttime and you are actively imaging. You can use any image you have already taken (load it from the Img tab, by double clicking on a thumbnail) at anytime. Do "Point Craft > Shift Click Blind&qu...
